This post is based on my 2nd visit to Bref, ordered completely different courses from my first visit.

My second visit was less satisfying compared to my first visit.

Bref’s Signature Cold Capellini (RM75) had larger portion compared to their Cold Somen. It also had more toppings to go with the capellini! Capellini was aldente and very appetising.

Hokkaido Scallops (RM75) were large, plump and succulent.

Squid Ink Tagliolini (RM68) was slightly undercooked and bland. Squid itself was tender but needs more char for that smokey aroma.

I’ve tried their steaks for at least 5 times, and this is the only time I actually enjoyed their steaks. Australian Wagyu (Oyster-blade) MB6 (RM180/250g) was Medium-rare, steak itself still lacked seasoning but this time they added Koji Shio on the side, hence it gives more flavour to the beef. Not WOW, but at least now it’s enjoyable.

French Duck Breast (RM75) was flavourful but the texture was too tough for my liking.

The waiter offered to swap the dish to the Australian Black Angus Tenderloin (RM120/130g) which was much better! Medium rare, tender, still lacked seasoning but was just nice with the koji shio.

Turkish Seabass (RM70) was quite dry, told the waiter and he came back with a crispy-skinned, moist and flavourful Seabass after. Wished they nailed it on their first time, but grateful for the amazing service!

Coffee & Banana Mille-Feuille (RM35) had flakey pastry, soft caramelised bananas but the coffee was quite bitter. The ice cream on the side manage to curb the bitterness, would be great if there was more of it.

The waiter offered Complimentary Berries & Meringue to make up for the experience.

Complimentary bread with Antipasto was decent.

Excellent service, waiter took initiative and was very attentive. It’s service like this that makes the dining experience a lot more enjoyable!

I would recommend the Scallops, both Cold Pastas, Truffle Pappardelle, Wagyu Burger, Lamb Racks & maybe the steaks.
