Will I come back: Maybe for certain dishes

Pork-free, serves alcohol

This post is based on my second visit to Calia. I was invited by Calia to experience their full-menu which will be launched to the public this coming week.

However, most of the items were already launched except for 2 items - and only 1 was available on my visit.

Happy to say that some of the dishes have improved compared to my first visit. But some still requires tweaking. Not bad, just not great.

Ultimate Bowl (RM138) came with Uni, Wagyu Beef, Foie Gras, Ikura, mushrooms and egg. The mushroom taste overpowered everything else, and it was kinda salty. Egg was slightly runny.

Aburi Salmon (RM43) was topped with their secret sauce which tasted like Mentai. Quite decent and great portion!

Calia Wagyu Bowl with Japanese A5 Wagyu (RM128) had major improvement! On my last visit, the A5 tasted almost like the Australian Wagyu. But this time, the beef was soft and juicy, not overpowered by the sauce. Would definitely come back for this!

(New Item) The King (RM48) featured Alaskan King Crab Claw. I was expecting the whole leg instead of shredded crabmeat. Miso Mayonnaise was quite strong, suggest to share as it gets quite “jelak”.

Baked Scallops (RM38) had more mayonnaise taste than cheese.

Smoked Salmon Sashimi (RM35) was okay-fresh, but I wasn’t a fan of the dressing. Too overpowering and didn’t really go well with the salmon sashimi.

Umami Fries (RM15) had more seaweed seasoning and the fries were crispy (even when it got cold).

Salted Egg Yolk Chicken (RM23) still barely had any salted egg yolk taste. Chicken was dry too.

Finally got to try the Matcha Lava Lava (RM28). The centre was runny, but the sides were slightly dry. The matcha was more towards the milky profile, but pretty decent for the price.

Brown Sugar Boba Cake (RM18) was still as good as I remembered.

Waiters were much more attentive compared to my first visit.

I expected more than just 2 new items on the full-menu. But still, appreciate Calia’s effort on inviting me back.
