Pork-free, serves alcohol
This post is based on dinner ala carte menu by Lucky Bo. All orders were recommended by the waiter.
Mayura Station Wagyu Tomahawk MB6/8 1.4-1.5kg (RM738) was quite mediocre. Wasn’t bad, just wasn’t WOW.
Doneness was inconsistent. Chef recommended Medium, but it came out Rare/Medium Rare in the middle, Medium/Medium-well on the edges. The rare parts were very chewy (kinda disgusting but I was too lazy to send those parts back to the kitchen). Some parts were also quite tough from being overcooked.
Flavour wise - it didn’t come off as rich and flavourful to me, in fact the beef flavour was quite mild. After some time it became quite boring. Limited condiments (only salt and Dijon mustard) were available.
(5) The excessive fat was used to make Wagyu Fat Char Kuey Teow. Initially the heavy char flavour was great, until a few bites later it became quite bitter.
Grilled Octopus Salad (RM45) was slightly bland, but had light smokey aroma.
Chef Ong’s Special Wasabi Prawns (RM32) were crispy outside, prawns were covered in mayo but not much wasabi taste.
Maltesers Chocolate Cheesecake (RM16) was very dry, almost like like it was left in the fridge for days. Barely had any maltesers taste (other than those 2 chocolates on top.)
Rum & Raisin Sorbet (RM10.50) was decent but nothing to shout about.
Coconut & Gula Melaka (RM10.50) had an artificial flavour aftertaste. Not a fan.
I ignored the Complimentary Bread.
Waiters were friendly and attentive.
Old-school, boring cafe setting. Comfortable seatings.
Disclaimer: I’ve been here once (maybe 2 years ago) and ordered a Tomahawk as well. Still think they were nothing to shout about. Not sure about other steaks tho.
