This post is based on Ultime’s Dinner Degustation Menu (RM380+/pax with Supplementary A5 Wagyu)


Food:

Overall pretty decent, but there’s some room for improvement. Great value for the price, with a total of 10 courses.


1. Amuse Bouche

Miso Waffle - crispy texture but the “oily” taste was too strong, and no miso flavour.


Croque Madame - I really liked this. Truffle flavour was strong, the croque was soft and uni wasn’t too overpowering.


Sea Foie Gras - Ankimo was slightly fishy.



(2-1) Duo Tartare was quite refreshing with the sake jelly.


(2-2) Fish In Fur had different ingredients in each layer, mash together and felt like potato salad.


(2-3) Foie Gras Brûlée was good! Loved the creamy custard & Foie Gras combo.


(2-4) Mushroom de Ultime was cold 😂 But love the flavour and could taste the mushroom bits, the chawanmushi inside needs to be smoother.



3. My Langoustine wasn’t fresh (it was mushy) and the soba was too soft, tasted like Chinese braised noodles.




4. Supplementary A5 Wagyu (RM80) was okay, nothing to shout about. Skip this.




5. Ageing Smoked Duck had great smokey aroma, loved the heirloom beetroot on the side.




(6-1) Napoleon Mille Feuille pastry wasn’t flaky, it was quite difficult to break apart.


(6-2) The waiter offered to change our dessert to the Crazy Hazelnut and it was really good! The hazelnut base was crispy, paired really well with the chocolate cream.


(6-3) Watermelon Sorbet tasted a little like syrup.


(6-4) Petit Four - Rose Macaroon was too “Rosey” for my liking. Dark chocolate orange was too bitter for me. Pecan Tart & Yuzu White Chocolate were good.



7. We got to choose our own bread with their assorted butter.



Service:

Waiter was very friendly and attentive. Bartender offered complimentary drinks.

It was just us that night so it was really quiet. They have outdoor patio too.
